Maesteri (My-STAIR-ee): Instructors of music at Descant Cathedral.
Mal i’mente (MAHL ee-MEHNT): An imprecatory prayer offered in battle by Mare Given, which holds the power to alter the substance and fabric of its adversary’s life. It is an unhallowed phrase of the Covenant Language.
Mal Wars: A series of wars focused west of the Divide in the Mal lands during the Age of Disdain, giving evidence to the thinning of the Veil along the Rim. The failure of the Second Promise left the Right Arm of the Promise unwilling to commit itself. And most rulers had no desire to see the Convocation of Seats recalled.
Male’Siriptus (Mahl-eh-Sih-RIP-Toos): Most often referred to as “the caress of Male’Siriptus,” it is sometimes used in place of Je’holta. Though it is a singular term, giving a single, unending voice and hand to a host of shadows and dark fates. Male-siriptus is what Je’holta can do, by surfacing the darkness of fear to the individual.
Malick (MAL-ick): A Sodalist at Recityv.
Maral Praig (MAHR-uhl PRAYG): Randeur of the Order of Sheason at time of the Covocation of Seats for the War of the First Promise.
Maere (MAYR): A servant of the Artificer, these Quietgiven are wraith-like creatures, able only to abide at night and in the shadows. They typically ride dark steeds, and are thought to induce the primal fears more surely than their Given brothers. It is believed that the Maere are the final state of those who’ve lost their physical lives in service to the One, living a fate they wish to extend to those still alive in the flesh.
Markel pe’Gloster (Mahr-KELL pay-GLOSS-ter): A diminutive highway merchant.
Maxon Drell (MACK-son DREHL): A bully from the Hollows who used to try and beat up on Tahn and Sutter.
Meche(MECK): One of Grant’s wards, and the leader of a Scar patrol.
Melifluous: end times
Melura (Meh-LOOR-Ah): The term used to describe someone who has not yet reached the age of nineteen and undergone the Change.
Mena Opawn (MEEN-uh oh-PAWN): Son of Hambley Opawn, and general helpmate at Fieldstone in the Hollows.
Merade (Mehr-AWD) the Devout: Celebrated in a constellation, Merade’s story is all but lost. Sketches of it tell of a man seated alone at the Tabernacle of the Sky while Aeshau was abandoned. Whether one of the Noble Ones or not, is a matter of who tells the story.
Merid Lavia (MARE-ed LAH-veeya): A fruit farmer from the Hollows who preserves her stores by drying them.
Meridian: Midday, noontime.
Milear (Mi-LEER): Stable owner in Lyr, and apparent long-time friend of Vendange and Mira.
Milon (Mi-LAWN): Recityv gate guard.
Mira (MEE-rah): A young Far from Naltus Far, Vendange’s companion—alias, Liola (Lee-OH-lah).
Mitel (MY-tell): Proprietor at Tack & Horn in Bollogh.
Mor: See Ta’opin.
